World Best Car of the Year

The Jaguar F - Pace is 2016 is un-arguably the world car of the year and it has the measure of its SUV rivals from Mercedes, Porsche and BMW. Although Jaguar will not call it a SUV but the configuration and ground clearance speaks volume about the nomenclature. The 2.0-litre diesel is a punchy performer and R-Sport models have all the essential kit – although it’s pricey. With its five seat configuration, t he F-Pace is as luxurious and comfortable as a Jag 4x4 should be, and both company car drivers and private buyers will find its price and low running costs attractive. All in all, it makes Jaguar’s first effort in the crossover SUV market a notable success, as global demand for the car will surely prove. Only some of the cheap-feeling cabin materials let it down.  Very few rivals can match the brand-new Jaguar F-Pace (2017) when it comes to space, dynamic driving performance, and the prestige that comes with a Jaguar badge.

Hackers on Rampage with WannaCry: A Global Cyber Attack

In view of the recent cyber attack, officials across the globe scrambled over the weekend to catch the culprits behind a massive ransomware worm that disrupted operations at car factories, hospitals, shops and schools, while Microsoft on Sunday pinned blame on the U.S. government for not disclosing more software vulnerabilities. Cyber security experts said the spread of the worm dubbed WannaCry - "ransomware" that locked up more than 200,000 computers in more than 150 countries - had slowed but that the respite might only be brief amid fears new versions of the worm will strike. To detect if your computer is infected, you'll immediately know whether you're infected — you'll be greeted by a popup screen saying "Ooops, your important files are encrypted." And by "important," they're talking about your most commonly used files — including .mp3 audios and .mp4 and .avi videos; .png and .jpg images; and .doc and .txt documents. The worm also t...

Toyota has set the record for the world's fastest SUV as a modified Land Cruiser hit speeds of 230 miles per hour (370km/h). The turbocharged vehicle rocketed along a 2.5 mile (4km) California runway to beat the previous record of 211 miles per hour (340km/h). Dubbed the 'Land Speed Cruiser' by the daredevil team, the SUV underwent a myriad of modifications to get it up to pace. The custom-built, 2,000-horsepower Cruiser had two turbochargers added to its regular 381hp, 5.7L V8 engine to increase its power output five-fold. Alongside several other engine modifications, the SUV had wider tires and reduced suspension to boost its top speed. It took former NASCAR driver Carl Edwards just two attempts to break the SUV land speed record. Modifications to the car's volleyball-sized turbochargers allowed the racer to add 19 miles per hour (30km/h) to his first attempt. The record attempt was made at Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California. In addition to being ...

Central Sydney Is in Lockdown Amid a Developing Hostage Crisis

Heavily armed police fanned out across downtown Sydney on Monday after an unidentified man took an undisclosed number of people hostage at a café in the central business district of Australia’s largest city at around 9:45 am local time. The flag, which is commonly flown by Islamist terrorist groups, has sparked fears that a terrorist attack is unfolding. However, Sydney police have not said if it is a terrorist attack but confirm they have made contact with the perpetrator. The flag bore, in Arabic text, what was thought to be the shahada, or Muslim testimony of faith. It translates as, “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”Hostages were seen displaying a black and white flag in the window of the Lindt café in Martin Place — a major commercial precinct usually crowded with office workers and tourists and, at this time of year, Christmas shoppers.
