When we hear budget devices, our mind usually race to phones and smart devies. Based on public opinion, premium devices are attributed to affluence and luxury. I will like to broaden my scope with my classification of premium and budget gadgets. Lets start with mobile phones, classical example of premium phones are Samsung S-series, iPhones, HTC and the likes, examples of budget phones are the likes of Tecno, Infinix, iTel, Wiko, Fero. Moving away from mobile phones, Materials and gadgets that can also be classified as premium are Rolex watch, Beat by Dre earpiece, Auto brands like Rollce Royce (thanks to our Chinese reverse engineers that are able to produce replicas). With my experience owing Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and having have a feel of ALL Samsung phone, I am trilled to say, the money worth it. I know most people will say the price is too high bla bla bla, permit to educate you a little on how this prices come by. 1. Research: In this age of science and technology, nobo...

WhatsApp messenger, now most popular instant messaging app had rolled out an update that will enable users to recall messages that are either mistakingly sent or wanted to be deleted from chat history. The feature is to be make available to users after you must have updated your app and will be enabled in batches.  This update is long overdue as there had been similar feature on BBM and some other smaller IM application. Details of it on the company blog says:  " To delete messages for everyone Deleting messages for everyone allows you to delete specific messages you have sent to either a group or an individual chat. This is particularly useful if you sent a message to the wrong chat or if the message you sent contains a mistake. Messages you successfully delete for everyone will be replaced with “This message was deleted” in your recipients’ chats (*). Similarly, if you see “This message was deleted” in a chat, it means that the sender deleted their mes...

Today I start to write down mobile phone brands and OEM names i could remember, as to know the wide varieties of mobile phone designs and how far it has helped GSM to evolve in a very short while. Countless of them which are mostly regionally or with high concentration in some market than the other, as opposed those that are global brands. That a brand is global or gone international those not mean their presence will be felt across the market. The recent news that Saudi Arabia granted citizenship to a robot (first country to do so) is a landmark achievement to computing and smart gadget usage. I still do wonder how Graham Bell must have felt when folks around him was making gest of him in those days that voice cannot be transmitted or pass through a wire, but as the popular saying "necessity is the mother of invention", anything that man despirately need he will always find a way to make it happen.  I could remember when GSM first came to Nigeria, when we wil...

I love this piece. The writer is a good Bible student 1. And it came to pass that a certain Governor from the East by the name Rochas the son of Okorocha who ruleth over the province of Imo, sent a messenger to the kingdom of the Southern country of Africa.  2. And he said to the messenger, in this manner shall ye speak to the king, "long live the king! thou art highly favoured in the the eyes of my Governor, even among the people of the province of Imo, therefore come this day to meat in my kingdom that thou mayest be honoured"   3. And the messenger did according to the words of the Governor.  4. And it came to pass that the king of the Southern country of Africa by the name, Jacob the son of Zuma, entered into the province of Imo, even into the city of Oweri, the dwelling place of the Governor.  5. And Rochas the son of Okorocha made a great feast and prepared a banquet before the son of Zuma that night. And he called all the noble ...

Hilary Clinton accuses Wikileakes of being  a Russian intelligence tool, says says Julian Assange colluded with Russia to help Donald Trump win US election. In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on Monday (Four Corners), she attacked Mr Assange for his alleged role in damaging her candidacy. "Assange has become a kind of nihilistic opportunist who does the bidding of a dictator," she said, referring to Russian president Vladimir Putin. The Wikileaks founder, who has been living inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012, hit back this morning, tweeting that Mrs Clinton was "not a credible person".  "It is not just her constant lying. It is not just that she throws off menacing glares and seethes thwarted entitlement. Watch closely. Something much darker rides along with it. A cold creepiness rarely seen."   M rs Clinton claimed WikiLeaks’ actions were motivated by Mr Assange’s personal dislike of her. ...

Qualcomm Inc confirmed an earlier report that the chipmaker had filed lawsuits in China, seeking to halt the manufacture and sale of Apple Inc’s iPhones in the country (REUTERS). Bloomberg had earlier reported about the lawsuits in China. ( bloom.bg/2z6qMwu ) In its lawsuit, Qualcomm reportedly claims that Apple is in violation of three patents, none of which are essential to any industry standards — meaning Qualcomm isn’t obligated to license them. "Apple employs technologies invented by Qualcomm without paying for them,” a Qualcomm spokesperson told Bloomberg . Those patents are said to cover power management and the iPhone’s Force Touch feature. The iPhone maker has always been willing to pay fair and reasonable rates for the patents it uses, Apple told Reuters in an email: “In many years of ongoing negotiations with Qualcomm, these patents have never been discussed and in fact were only granted in the last few months,” Apple said.  In a statement Ap...

Here is my bit on this. 1. The biggest edge is the fact that Apple only caters to a particular class. There is not a lot of variety regarding the segment it covers. Samsung, on the other hand, is everyone’s brand, not just for the elite. 2. The company believes in producing large volumes of phones which keeps its costs low and helps retain profit margins. 3. Despite the fact that Apple has led the smartphone industry. It was Samsung which imitated many of the innovative features and made them available to low-cost smartphones. https://www.quora.com/What-does-Samsung-do-that-Apple-can-never-achieve/answer/Aslam-Chaudhry-4?share=c249421e&srid=3gMPC

Often unfairly. I’m not Nigerian, nor am I of Nigerian descent (that I know of), but I have worked for a number of large entities in Nigeria and I regularly advise Nigerian (and other African) bank boards—so I have a perspective on views of them by others. My general sense is that other Africans look at the fringe of Nigerians that raise the eyebrows with their behavior due to scams or big man-type corruption scandals, and extrapolate from these tail events in forming views about the entire nation. Perhaps I feel I can relate to this sort of unfair stereotyping. As an African-American, I know far more Black people with resumes nearing that of President Obama’s than people with resumes like Biggy Smalls’s—but the world seems to think quite the opposite. This is characteristic, by the way, of a common set of cognitive biases. We don’t do statistics well mentally—even if we are statisticians. In particular, we overestimate the likelihood of rare events and underestimate the probabilit...

Samsung is already hard at work on its upcoming Galaxy S9 smartphone, which is rumored to be launched early next year (earlier than previous releases). Here are the few details we know so far: According to reports, the Galaxy S9 will come with a 5.8-inch display, and a larger Galaxy S9+ should deliver a 6.2-inch screen. Its design won't change all that much, reports say, but it will be more powerful, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip it's expected to deliver. And unlike the Galaxy S8, the Galaxy S9 could sport a virtual fingerprint sensor. It'll have the new powerful Snapdragon 845 chipset powering things but it will stick with 4GB of RAM, rather than 6GB as other modern smartphones. What Features Should We Expect from the Galaxy S9? * Modular Design * Insanely Powerful Processor * Embedded Fingerprint Sensor * Dual Lens Camera * Infinity Display More details later...

Following last week's issuance of quit notice to North Korean ambassador by Qatar, Spain on Monday ordered North Korea’s ambassador to leave the country by September 30 in protest over Pyongyang’s nuclear tests, which it has criticised as “a serious threat to peace”. “Today, the ambassador of North Korea DPRK in Spain has been declared persona non grata,” the foreign ministry said on its English twitter account. The ministry added on its Spanish account that the ambassador has until the end of the month to leave the country. In late August, Spain had warned that Pyongyang’s nuclear and ballistic missile programmes “create a serious threat to peace in the region and to global security,” saying they “would have consequences on bilateral relations”. This latest move by Spain followed decisions from both Peru and Mexico to expel the North Korean ambassador on their territory. The continuous test firing of NK nuclear capable ballistic missiles has renewed sanctions from the UN Secur...
